Janet is a Creative Director and devoted Educator. Professional background includes full service ad campaigns for national and regional clients, Art Direction for weekly publications with distribution from Manhattan to Montauk, as well as UI, UX, and web development for not-for-profits. 
Her personal artwork is informed by her interests in preservation both historical and environmental, but her daily motivation is focused on education - whether for clients, students or her local community. 
Janet began teaching in Higher Education at Parsons in 2003 and has since instructed and helped shape curriculum at several institutions in NYC, including SUNY FIT, Pratt, and Parsons. She is currently the Co-Chair of the CUNY-Wide council on Media, Art and Technology. 
Beginning in 2013 Prof. Esquirol became full time at CUNY BMCC. Here, in addition to teaching Multimedia Arts, she has been involved in the procurement and administration of a $6M Federal 5-year grant, "DOE HSI Digital Pathways," which brings STEM and college preparation to historically underserved high school students. 
Janet has been an invited technology speaker for events at SUNY, CUNY, and the FATE conference. Since 2014, she has also been the Creative Director of TEDxFultonStreet since 2014, which has produced over 50 TED Talks and gained over 1 Million views online.
